About this Blog
The ancient
Greek maxim Γνῶθι σεαυτόν -Know thyself is the aspiration behind developing
this Blog page. However, the ‘thy' part of it is stretched beyond oneself to
mankind in a collective manner, and the milieu of its existence has been
emphasized.
On Earth, life
-the replicating organic chemical, emerged from non-organic chemicals. In its
three-and-a-half-billion years of life history, numerous life forms, with
varying levels of intelligence have evolved, including the Homo Sapient. We
occupy the zenith position in the known kingdom of living beings. This position
is proclaimed by virtue of our brain, which is by far the most sophisticated
phenomenon that we have been able to observe to date in the known universe. Now
humans themself are creating artificial intelligence. So what actually is
evolving on Earth- life form or intelligence? And, what is the future of it?
But before
looking forward into the future, and its probable possibilities, knowing the
past is of utmost importance. The full potential of human brains was not
unleashed in its nomadic period. Our intelligence started to proliferate at the
dawn of civilization when we started to live together, in large numbers, at
permanent settlements. Civilization is the core context of our life. It shaped
our way of living in the past, and will continue to do so into the future, as
well. It is the foundation of our current state of emotional intelligence, and
to some extent, our physical attributes. While discussing it, another
inseparable concept of the human mind popped in –religion. It is the oldest and
strongest binding perception of humanity that emerged with the cognitive
revolution. It is the fabric of human civilizations.
In the quest to
know the human-self, we also extend exploring the natural world, within which
we exist and have strived. Because, for our existence, the context of existence
is equally important, if not more. The fundamental forces of nature are-
gravity, electromagnetism, strong and weak forces. Although we do not feel all
of their existence in our daily lives, they fundamentally affect all things
around us. In sharp contrast to the fundamental forces that we feel the effect
of, our physical world is- the Earth, we can touch it, we see the sun and the
solar system, and we also see lights from distant stars and galaxies. The
universe, with its sub-atomic particles and strings, is our physical world that
we live in. It is the bigger context of our existence.
This blog
heavily emphasizes on science, however, the philosophical origin of scientific
discoveries cannot be, and must not be, ignored. Throughout history, scientific
advancements were preceded by the accumulation of thoughts of earlier people.
The inquisitiveness of our mind did not stop in the absence of factual knowledge,
in its quest to understand the natural world. Philosophical thoughts always
filled the gap of factual knowledge of understating. Later generations
improvised those ideas with observations to reveal the facts. Science is a
revelation, restlessly widening our understating of the natural world, and
embedded into our existence. The other facet of philosophical thought is
religion, which is deep-rooted in our minds. It is a belief system of the human
mind and is driven by emotional traits. The both sides of the philosophical
coin, science as purely factual and religion as sheer belief, control how we
have lived our lives for thousands of years, and years to come.
Finally, in this
Blog page- time, the most rudimentary context we live in. Everything in our
life, our existence, pivots around our concept of time. So what actually time
is, or does it really exist? If it exists, is it in the form, as we perceive
it, truly a dimension? Or, it is another fundamental force of nature (it is a
vector, moving in a direction) that ripped apart the universe from the point of
its singularity and still pushing the universe into the future. Understanding
the truth about time is paramount of importance, because- physics is a tone of string at the sub-atomic level that makes a melody in chemistry,
orchestrating the biological life on the stage of the universe in the fabric of
space-time.
While discussing these wide spectra of topics, it is very likely, and expected that one would find concepts that differ from others, posted under different 'Categories; of the Blog.
In this Blog, besides discussing various topics, in a simplified way, attempts will be made to resolve the arisen contradiction of concepts from different 'Categories' of the Blog. However, the attempts of unification are not conclusive, rather are only thought-provoking propositions for open-minded people. They are mere food for thought. So what's on the menu?
